Temuera Derek Morrison MNZM, who was born on December 26, 1960, is a renowned New Zealand actor who first gained recognition in his home country for portraying Dr. Hone Ropata on Shortland Street. He is highly praised for his portrayal of Jake The Muss Heke in Once Were Warriors (1994) and its sequel in 1999. Outside of New Zealand, Morrison is best known for his work in the Star Wars multimedia franchise, where he portrayed Jango Fett and his genetic clones, such as the clone troopers and Boba Fett. He originated the role of Jango in the 2002 film Attack of the Clones. His portrayal of Boba Fett includes voicing the character in the 2004 re-release of The Empire Strikes Back, various video games, and fully playing Boba in The Mandalorian (2019–present) and The Book of Boba Fett (2021–2022). In 2022, he had a recurring role in the black ops thriller series Echo 3. Morrison is known for voicing Chief Tui, the father of Moana, in Disney's Moana (2016), and for his role as Tom Curry, father of Arthur Curry, in Aquaman (2018), The Flash (2023), and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023). Early life Born in Rotorua on 26 December 1960, Morrison hails from the North Island of New Zealand. He is the son of Hana Morrison (née Stafford) and musician Laurie Morrison. He is Māori, of Te Arawa (Ngāti Whakaue) and Tainui (Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Rarua) whakapapa, and also has Scottish and Irish ancestry. He is related to performer Taini Morrison (sister) and musician Sir Howard Morrison (uncle). His secondary education took place at Wesley College, Auckland, and Western Heights High School, Rotorua.
